The History of FBC
First Baptist is one of Scottsboro's oldest churches. It was built on the present site by a group of Christians in 1878. It was their heartfelt belief that God was calling them to reach the entire Jackson County Region for Christ. That desire led to the purchase of a strategically situated block of property just off the downtown square. God continues to bless! After almost 130 years of fruitful ministry, Christians here today continue to reach out to the people of Jackson County.
FBC's Doctrine
We believe the Bible to be the inspired and authoritative Word of God. It is without error in its original manuscripts and serves as the basis for our beliefs. We accept “The Baptist Faith and Message,” a 2000 affirmation of basic Christian beliefs, as a general statement of our faith.
FBC's Affiliations
First Baptist Church is an autonomous church and maintains the right to govern its own affairs, free from any denominational control. Recognizing, however, the benefits of cooperation with other churches in world missions, this church voluntarily affiliates with the Southern Baptist Convention in its national, state, and local expressions.
